Some tips & trics to facilitate watering in your vegetable garden.
|
Organization of the vegetable garden.Put plants with similar irrigation needs in the same part of the vegetable garden. Mulch the soil wherever that's possible to limit the evaporation of water. |
Porous pipes are a convenient way to organize the irrigation of a vegetable garden. Unlike pipes with holes or oscillators, porous pipes don't humify the leafs of the plants.
Put the porous pipes in place at the end of the winter, before sowing and planting: the implementation will be much easier.
The water flow is much higher at the beginning of the porous pipe than at the end. Keep that in mind when you install the porous pipes: put more space in between the loops at the beginning of the pipe than at the end. Keep also in mind the irrigation needs of each plant (for this reason it's better to cultivate plants with similar irrigation needs in the same planting bed).
If you connect two porous pipes to a water hose, use a T-shaped accessory in order to connect the two porous pipes directly to the hose (if you connect the first porous pipe to the water hose, and the second porous pipe to the first, the water flow at the end of the second porous pipe is really too low).
If
you use multiple porous pipes, and the water flow is too low, consider
moving the water hose from one porous pipe to another, in phases.
If
possible, connect the different porous pipes in the form a loop, with
a T-shaped accessory to connect the loop to the water hose.
